Hammond Produce

Tim Bradshaw

Tim is the MD of JCM Glassford Ltd which is a privately owned farming company based at Apley Head Farm, Clumber, Worksop, Nottinghamshire. They have three fully irrigated sand land farms and 3 heavy land farms 25 miles away near Lincoln totalling 2500 Ac and all run as one business. They have been expanding the vegetable side of the operation over the last 10 years and along with the main crop carrots they also grow leeks and parsnips which complement potatoes, sugar beet, vining peas and various cereals which make up the rotation.

The heavy land has a very simple rotation of wheat and oilseed rape, the latter of which is destined to go through the Phoenix Fuels Facility.

The farms are run on a day to day basis by the farm manager and a full time staff of 6 men. Some regular part time staff are also employed as work loads dictate. Irrigation plays a major role on the sand land farms and large investment in reservoirs and equipment has been made over the last 10 years. All farms are entered into Environmental Stewardship Schemes and they have planted many new hedges and trees over recent years.

Along with the farms, Tim is very involved with Hammond Produce Ltd and has been Chairman for the last 5 years since the company was formed. The business has grown with Sherwood and has seen many advantages of membership and are collaborating in many more areas.

Tim is also on the British Carrot Growers’ Assocition (BCGA) Promotion Committee which has had some success over the last few years in raising the profile and consumption of carrots, along with being a shareholder director of Phoenix Fuels a new Bio Fuel company operating near Rufford.
